Odisha lives in its villages and farmers are its backbone. The BJD government has always prioritized the interests of the farmers and those engaged in farming activities, including the landless agricultural workers. Several innovative schemes have been initiated for our farmers and to increase farm productivity, which have resulted in agricultural production increase over the last 13 years. Besides, the state government presented a separate agricultural budget for the first time. Budget allocation for agriculture has increased from Rs. 2,000 crore to Rs. 7,000 crore now. In order to make financing available to our farmers, the state government is offering them agricultural loan at a nominal 2percent rate of interest. Our pledge is also for time-bound completion of all irrigation projects. Moreover, in-line with the commitment made during last elections, separate agricultural feeders, with an outlay of Rs. 1,000 crores, have been provided for regular power supply to the farmers of our state. Jeebika

Landless persons and marginal farmers residing within the Wastershed areas, and excluded from different watershed programs included. Over 28,000 families with an expenditure of more than Rs. 32 crores benefited so far.

Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU)

Odisha is the first State in organizing animal health camps in the whole country. 105 MVUs are in operation in 12 districts. More than 24 lakhs animals have been treated so far. Nearly 44,000 villages have been covered.

Irrigation schemes

Irrigation facilities provided to 24,87,165 hectares of land during 2,000 has been enhanced to 30,15,020 hectares by the end of March 2011 thereby creating additional irrigation potential for the farmers. 

Digital Mandi Yojana

Rs. 2 crore has been provided to give free mobile phones to 20,000 farmers & to access information under the Digital Mandi scheme.
